Professor Carron publishes in the field of Renaissance studies, especially on poetic imitation and philosophical dialogues. His research extends to the early modern history of food. His publications include, Discours de l'errance amoureuse: Une lecture du 'canzoniere' de Pontus de Tyard and François Rabelais: Critical Assessments (editor), as well articles on the history of ideas, philosophical dialogue, poetry, imitation, history of food, etc. His edition of the Italian translation of François Pierre de La Varenne's Le Cuisinier françois (1651) for Guido Tommasi Editore (Milan) was published under the title Il cuciniero francioso in 2012. In 2014 he contributed to a volume of Festschrifts in honor of Prof. Tom Conley (Harvard) with a paper on Sixteenth-Century horticultural literature, another chapter of his on-going research on the history of food. His recently completed critical edition of Pontus de Tyard’s Solitaire premier (vol. VII of Tyard’s Oeuvres complètes) will be published in 2017 by Editions Classiques Garnier, Paris. As Scientific Director of the newly created American Institute for Levinassian Studies (Los Angeles, 2016), he is in charge, among other duties, of organizing an annual series of public lectures on philosophical topics, starting this year with “The return of ethics.”
