MARTIN-TURRILL MEMORIAL AWARDS

 

  Best Essays Awards

One first prize of $1,000, a second prize of $750, and a third prize of $500 will be awarded for research papers on a literary or cultural topic written between Spring 2019 and Winter 2020.

Papers must be written in French and be at least 6 pages in length.  They should be submitted with no name or recognizable references to the author.  A separate sheet of paper (or letter) must mention student’s full name and UCLA ID, including address where award certificates will be mailed.

Submit your papers in a Word.doc to Prof. Carron, Committee Chair, at carron@ucla.edu, by Friday, May 22, 2020.

 Best Major Award

$1,500.  Students are nominated by Instructors and Faculty. More than one prize may be awarded.

Awards will be published on the departmental webpage. In addition, we have not yet decided which form the “public” announcement of the awards will take, beside an electronic email.

Please note that monetary awards are considered taxable income. Participants should update their home address.

If you are receiving Financial Aid, the award payment may be applied to your student loan.
