Courses Commonly Taught

  • Business French: Language and Communication (French 109) analyzes the workings of the French company, business communication, and the economic and legal context of employment.
  • The Culture of Business in France (French 110) explores such culture-specific aspects of commercial activity as marketing, advertising, and the impact of the European Community and globalization.
  • Translation courses (French 108 A, B) focus on communication in contemporary popular culture (film subtitles, tourism, advertising), and in intellectual life (fiction, dramatic texts, autobiography, editorial, and investigative journalism).
